31 cents and -6.5%

October 18th, 2008 at 05:26 am

Saving log - $0 tip box
Spending log - $10 lunch

My $4000 in this week's monthly T-bill has earned me a grand total of 31 cents. I don't know whether, again, everyone's fleeing to safety from stocks from last week, or will be fleeing stocks next week. All I know is that this month I can do better by sticking the money in my mattress and hunt for sidewalk change. There's only one flaw in the plan - its fall, and its dark during my walk. Hard to spot those little metal circles in the dark.

I opened up the envelope containing my 403B results. As of Sept 30, I lost 6.5%. Well done, baselle.

Keep the faith. It will get better, it'll just take time and patience. (Say Miss Pollyanna who has lost over 45% of retirement funds the last time she checked them.)

Ouch, Laura. I feel for you! I know it will get better - these days one can't whine if one isn't losing money. For giggles and grins, I might sidewalk hunt for small change just to demonstrate how disappointing interest rates are.

Thanks guys. A large part of what I've lost is in my 403b account which isn't having any money put back into it now (it was my teacher retirement account).

I just have to hope that what "they" say will ring true and in the next 25 - 30 years I'll get my value back plus some.
