found a dime

November 7th, 2008 at 08:04 pm

...just under the wire; today was the last day. Found a dime on the curb this morning.

I had a "joke" goal to find more spare change than what my T-bill would earn that month.

T-bill interest = .31 cents

This month, I found = .39 cents
(.05 + .11 + .01 + .02 + .10 + .10)

I found a dime and a penny next to DH's car this morning and thought of you! He claims it was not his - we park in a condo parking lot. In my pocket it went! He can be airheaded, but wouldn't be so careless to drop a dime and penny. He knows better!!

I figure if I run into another SA-blogger somewhere I'll know it, because we'll be the ones walking along with one eye on the ground looking for money! LOL

    Ummm ... Congratulations?

I recently started feeling nostalgic about T-Bills ... I miss them ... My "little break" from them has stretched in to something like 1-1/2 years ... yields have just sucked.

It was a stunt ... thx for the congratulations. Agreed, 1 1/2 yrs ago I could get easily 80$/ month in T-bill interest. (4 1-month T-bills, bought once/week). Now? Under $10.

Now that there is a 5K limit on I-bonds, combined with being able to buy T-bills in $100 increments ... you get the feeling that the US is trying to not-so-subtly force a fixed income investor into a chute that doesn't pay anything. So much for patriotism.
