47 minutes

April 5th, 2009 at 03:44 am

I've been doing a jog weekly, running a route that I know is about 5K. Trainer had a goal for me to run/walk it in 48 minutes, I did it in 47! Entirely due to forcing myself to never drop down a gear and walk it - I jogged it the entire way and waited for the second wind. It wasn't a fast jog by any means, and I never got the I-feel-great-lets-go-faster second wind. More like I'm-feeling-way-less-crappy than I thought. Smile

I'm jealous! You'd be scraping me off the sidewalk and calling 911!

    Congratulations !! :-)

I ran a Marathon last November in Florence and I really think running is just a case of gradually building up your endurance. Last year I'd often do 7 mile runs and feel like it hard work all the way through... however there was a time when I couldn't run a mile...

It definitely gets easier tho !!

For me, running has always been a little bit mental -- even though I want to stop and walk, I have to make myself keep going. (The body is tougher than the mind!) Sounds like you're doing great!

Hey, 47 minutes for a 5k is great! I haven't run (really run) since November, so you probably are faster than me now. Smile (My fastest time was around 43 minutes, and that was when I was training consistently.)
