I am sadder today than you will ever know

I was yesterday also.

Sunday morning we discovered our cat, Morgan, dead in a box with a Seattle Police business card & incident number clipped to the lid. Morgan didn't have any marks on her, no broken bones, no blood. She looked like death literally caught her mid-yawn from a nap.

We tried getting the incident report but since it was written up during the weekend, it will take 24-72 hrs to come up.

You now know as much as I do. I am sadder today than you will ever know. She was a little princess, about to become an adult. Was.

Damn. Damn. DAMN.

    oh my gosh that is SO sad. i feel terrible for you and your hubby. please post when you find out what happened. i hope that she had a peaceful passing. poor little thing. *hugs*

    I am so sorry. I have experienced finding a pet dead and not knowing what happened and it hurts. I cried for days..I too hope that Morgan died peacefully. Frown

    I am so sorry. My heart is breaking for you. I love my cats so much and if something like that happened to one of them I would be devastated. You are in my thoughts.

    Oh my goodness! My heart is breaking for you. Losing a cat to old age or sickness is hard enough, but like that ... like Ms Pearl said, devastating. I am so sorry for your loss.

    Thank you very much for your condolences. I'll let you all know what I find out. I was unintentionally sneaky in my grief - I thanked the officer who wrote up the incident number on the police website and got a callback from the SPD.

    Baselle I am so sorry to hear of your loss! I know how much you enjoyed being with her and I loved your stories about her. Keep us posted on the "incident". We lost 3 cats to the outdoors and have made our current kitty an indoor cat. I feel bad for her sometimes when she really wants out, but I can't face another loss like that! {{hugs}}

    Was she hit by a car? It seems weird that if there was some kind of accident, that they wouldn't at least try to find out where the animal lived by looking at the tags or knocking on doors or something.

    fern - with great reluctance, I have to agree with you. Thinking back I'm sure that Augie, my indoor-outdoor that made it to 19, was freakishly lucky. I can't count on that again. And I can't use my experiences with the barn cats of my childhood to guide me - I'm an old softie now with pets, not working animals.
