PTO of a workaholic

July 31st, 2010 at 03:57 am

Unfortunately, that describes me. I looked at my check stub today - we get those electronically too, so one can avoid looking at the particulars.

261 hours, or almost 7 weeks.

Its not my fault I don't get sick. Time to not feel guilty taking those mental health days; I'm chipping away at my PTO (paid time off).

And its my own version of the golden parachute/severence package. Actually, I'm sure the workplace cuts it off at 175 - 200 hours.

That's a lot of PTO! I know what you mean though...mine is probably piling up too. Sometimes vacations are more stressful than working for me!

Mine currently sits at 285 and anything over 240 at year's end turns into sick leave which can add up forever. (Oh my sick leave is just over 400 right now). And my compensation leave is over 50. (Uh oh, I'm afraid I won't get any sympathy now :O ) And I suspect your PTO limit at year's end is probably 240 also.

Funny thing is I've used as much sick leave as I earned so far this year with my physical therapy, though that has ended now.

I'm trying to stockpile my vacation time this year. Since I was laid off for 6 months last year I figured I didn't really need to take a vacation, and we don't have short term disability at work. I'm trying to keep enough to cover 12 weeks in case I do actually get pregnant, so I can take the entire time off if I want to.
