I'm saving for... (dark)

This is a warning that its dark.

I work maybe two blocks from

here.

Every Sunday, I walk past here.

During my walk home, I have found much money on the blacktop of this carwash.

I've been known to have a coffee here.

This is a bit over 10 blocks north of where I live.

This is about 4 blocks south of where I live.

I'm saving for a Kevlar vest. What are the fashion forward colors this year?

I keep up with the news and its weird that to get through the day you have to just deny what has happened and where.

yep, GAIN is the neighborhood watch unit. They were especially active when we had those string of arsons a few years ago.

Today I chatted with someone about Argentina, and they asked me if it was "safe". Safer than Seattle right now.

Someone was shot to death ten blocks north from my house.
I am relieved to know that some Americans think this spate of violence is scary and abnormal. I rarely have a good idea of what's normal here. We try to distance ourselves: "I'm not in my 20s, not in a gang, don't go out late at night to sketchy areas, don't grow weed, don't pick up rough trade" but life here is truly #$%@ed up when you have to add "don't drink coffee during the day at a place I consider my second home" as a lifestyle choice intended to limit your likelihood of being murdered by a gun-totin' nut.

Kevlar colours: Evergreen line for keeping it dark == green wood, pine, coffee brown. Rainier line: beach sand, Jack in the Box brand. Susan G Komen event replaced with "Run From the Gun" event to fund public health programs for the mentally ill, and to pay political advocacy committees to lobby for reinstatement of laws permitting family members to have criminally insane people involuntarily committed.

With 85th st getting tore up 3 blocks from my house, I'm thinking a nice fluorescent orange or yellow piping. Hmm - coffee brown with orange piping. Visible at night, but hiding in plain sight as a construction flagger.
